Children’s Day Treatment

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR CHILDREN

Day Treatment helps children, grades Kindergarten - 8, whose social, emotional, and behavioral problems interfere with their academic progress.

Through a trauma-informed lens, we serve children throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area who are looking to find new ways of coping and managing difficult feelings and situations in healthy and helpful ways. We offer skills development, individual and group therapy and family psychoeducation and support. Our Children’s Day Treatment offers options of a half-day program for those that would like to remain in their home school or a full-day program, where both treatment and academics are provided on-site.

OUR CLIENTS
Catholic Charities Children’s Day Treatment provides treatment to meet the therapeutic needs of children in grades kindergarten through 8th grade whose academic progress has been impacted by stress, distress and/or trauma. Many of our children struggle with emotional and behavioral regulation, peer and adult relationships, attention, and self-esteem. Most of our children have received some form of mental health treatment prior to coming to day treatment.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Catholic Charities Children’s Day Treatment believes that caregiver involvement is essential to successful outcomes for children. Throughout the duration of the child’s treatment, caregivers are expected to maintain regular contact with the treatment team, including bi-weekly meetings aimed at empowering caregivers and increasing understanding and management of their child’s mental health symptoms.

OUR STAFF
Catholic Charities Children’s Day Treatment has a dedicated and experienced team who is deeply committed to helping our kids learn new skills, build healthy relationships, and manage overwhelming feelings. We do this by listening and learning about each child’s unique needs and then tailoring our treatment to meet those needs and improve functioning. Through ARC, a trauma-informed framework, our program uses several models of care including Zones of Regulation, mind body practices and restorative practices. Additionally, our therapists may use one or more of the following treatment approaches: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), DBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, play, and art therapy. The educational component of our program is provided by our partner, Minneapolis Public Schools.
